Okay, I’ll admit it:  I’m not generally one for caving into peer pressure, but when two of your best chums from college have both launched blogs, there comes a little nagging voice.  That voice sounds a lot like my old English Writing professor.  Okay, professorS: The way one becomes a writer is to write.  Unfortunately for you, said writer needs readers.

But “ORANGE RHYMES WITH VODKA”, Jen?  Seriously?!  Well, if we were friends on Facebook (aka social media for Gen X), you’d know that quite a few of my updates have to do with booze, hootch, alcohol, ETOH.  Specifically vodka.  More specifically, Mr. Goose.  I won’t go so far as to say that he’s the love of my life, but I do consider us to be in a relationship.

Orange is a little more complex and much more vague.  Orange is my favorite color.  Has been my signature color, if you will (apologies to Julia Roberts a la Steel Magnolias), since college days.  The reason is simple.  I needed a suit.  I was a poor college student.  I went to Gabriel Brothers (they got overstock & plenty of damaged merch but if you could sew and/or didn’t care, clothes were dirt cheap).  The coolest suit available in my size was in orange.  ORANGE.  With big slick silver buttons.  So I did what any poor college student would do:  I embraced the orange!  Plus it’s about the happiest color I know.  AND not many people claim it.  Poof!  New favorite color borne out of necessity and a tiny bit of rebelliousness.  One hardly struts about in an all orange suit (with mini skirt!) if orange is not the favorite color!

Anyway, this is just the start of a journey.  There will be musings about family, divorce, dating, booze, kids, mental health, Catholicism & then not Catholicism, single mom-dom and hopefully a fair amount of humor.

Let’s be honest:  the name of the blog has vodka in it.  Therefore, it only makes sense that this will be much more enjoyable for all concerned if it’s consumed whilst reading.  And probably writing.
